Every Book Begins As A Draft

Welcome to the Foxhole!

"A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instill a love of learning."

June may be the end of school in my household, but it's the beginning of my author learning season. First I was lucky enough to get a spot in Jessie Cunniffe's Book Blurb Magic Course. I learned so much in six short weeks! Now Cause for Action has a new, and much improved, working blurb.

Then, I was able to have a one on one consultation with Vicky Brewster, a developmental/content editor, to analyze this draft of Cause for Action. She gave meaningful but gentle critiques and now I feel empowered and inspired for the next draft.

Last thing, I'm thinking about starting a bookclub on Fable where I will share different books and we can discuss and/or review them together. What do you think?

Cause for Action

Normal life just went up in flames

Only the ruthless will survive...

His service forgotten, Michael Lowe returns home to a dying town. A mystery disease has his rural community in its grip and while the nation's leaders aren't going to save them, the people are no longer powerless. Michael knows that Progress Requires Sacrifice, but when a background check turns personal, he finds himself drawn to protect Diana, a woman he’s never met.

Diana Quicke isn't the first woman to discover her husband's duplicity, but most people don't have to contend with an impending civil war as well. As America reels from the Austin Attack, Diana engages in some harmless flirtation with Michael, a man halfway across the country. The thrill of new love is the high that balances the low of holding her life together with duct tape and sheer will. But one more incident could push her—and society—over the edge.

And Disloyalty to the Cause is unforgivable…

That heartbreaking fact by itself was horrible to watch as it unfolded, but the real horror was in the aftermath of the event. In my opinion, the ripple effects are why the even still feels fresh in our minds. We saw the heroes who...
